School Closures - Coronavirus

The Chicago Tribune has been updating citizens of Illinois regarding school closures and other school information during this Coronavirus outbreak. Many districts are providing lunch for children under 18 years old during this time. Please contact your local school district regarding more specific information.

School Maintenance Project Grant

School Districts are eligible to apply for the School Maintenance Project Grant through ISBE. This grant allows school districts to receive up to $50,000 to be used for capital projects. Below is an ISBE link that explains more: https://www.isbe.net/Pages/School-Maintenance-Project-Grant.aspx

Property Tax Relief Grant

The Property Tax Relief Grant allows school districts to abate and give back tax dollars to their specific community. While agreeing to abate tax dollars, the state will give back a specific dollar amount to the Districts through Evidence Based Funding.  Districts would have to apply for the grant through ISBE. If approved, they would need to work with their county assessors office to abate taxes. Education Bill

Illinois Property Tax Freeze

March 15th, 2017 For those who are interested in learning about the Illinois property tax freeze that MIGHT happen, this is a great article to read! UPDATE: On May 30th, 2017 the Illinois Senate approved a 2-year property freeze. Weather

The National Weather Service projected that Chicago, IL will have one of the warmest summers on record in 2017. The National Weather Service also projected that most of the Midwest will expect a stormy summer.
